Day 17: Ornament

Art by Rhett Backstrom | Twitter | Instagram Untouchable. Practically unreal. He lives everyone’s dream and gets paid to be beautiful. He has teams of people there to make him look perfect. How could someone not want that? The lights, cameras, fans, money. You wonder if he has time for meaningful relationships. He looks like…

Art by Rhett Backstrom | Twitter | Instagram They must have forgotten to tell you about me. Your gods who wakes you up in the morning; the same gods who send you messages in every sunrise and sunset. Who, after the rain stops, speak to you as the rays of the sun burn through the clouds and give…

Art by Rhett Backstrom | Twitter | Instagram I work under the eyes of the kings. How could I not when I do such strange things? I have flexibility, ambiguity, and the willingness to do everything over the top. What I'm best at is causing a scene or distracting a queen. I can't help drawing the attention of…

Art by Rhett Backstrom | Twitter | Instagram He's everything my dad wouldn't want me to have and Dad doesn't even know him. I'm just a really simple person. I've always been this way. I grew up simply in the middle of nowhere and wasn't expecting to have anything interesting happen about me or to me. I didn't…

Art by Rhett Backstrom | Twitter | Instagram Hiding places for the dragons were becoming less and less as man wanted and took more and more. The Earth was divided by those who took and those who wanted nothing but the ability to live and be free. Times were changing. Generations came who were tired…

Art by Rhett Backstrom | Twitter | Instagram I am Eunoia. I deserve to be here. My whole life, the world offered me nothing and I worked with what I had to climb to the top. I am their general - their stratigos- and those who have reservations about this are welcome to challenge me…

Art by Rhett Backstrom | Twitter | Instagram "Mom?" Mia stares out the living room window as her mom brushes her hair. "What's going to happen to our snowman when there's no more snow?" It's late February in northern Idaho and all the snow is melting, much to Mia's displeasure. She had fun with her…

Art by Rhett Backstrom | Twitter | Instagram "I'm going to be the best!" Solar yells from his open window, causing a bird to fly out of a tree in his backyard. "They won't know what's coming for them!" "You won't know what's coming for you if you don't come down for breakfast!" Solar's mom…

About

I was born and raised in Idaho Falls, Idaho but moved to Washington soon after high school. I’ve been here ever since! Writing is my passion and I would love to publish a novel one day. I went to school with astrobiology on my mind, but ended up falling deeper in love with acting and writing. Science will always be a huge love for me, but for now writing is taking the forefront!

I’m a mom to Paxon and Apollo and a dog mom to Bulma. I love Wonder Woman, anime, and playing my Nintendo Switch (Breath of the Wild 2 can’t come soon enough). If I’m not finding an excuse to be outdoors, I’m in the kitchen experimenting.

On the 13th this little guy was one month old! One month of cuddles, healing, and figuring out how to take care of two boys with very different needs and very different schedules. Despite how tiny he may seem, he's already so strong and his awake and alert times are becoming more and more. 💙
Apollo has landed 🚀
12/11 - Not to rip off a Jim Halpert quote completely BUT... The ugly sweater, courthouse wedding at 7 months pregnant was actually Plan C. Plan B was an overpriced modern wedding at a picturesque venue at the beginning of June but, you know, global pandemic. Plan A was marrying him a long, long time ago. Either when he showed up with flowers and food at my doorstep when I was in college because he knew finals were making me starve myself, when he stayed with me for the ten days and helped me figure it out while I was technically homeless in Pullman, or when he dropped everything in one night and became a dad and has cared for me and our son ever since then - no questions asked. I love you, husband ❤️ #CassOhl
I have so much to be thankful for ❤️ happy thanksgiving 🍁
Happy birthday to my love 🥰 it feels like we’re just starting our life together, but we’ve already done so much. Can’t wait to see what’s next for you, for us and for our family ❤️ you never cease to amaze me!
I always try to keep it real about whatever I’m going through, and I find writing it down helps me sort through my thoughts and feelings (and it might help someone googling their similar situations at 3am to hear another person deal with it too).
