Happy Father’s Day to all dads out there!

Father’s Day has always meant a lot to me for as far as I can remember. It’s a day I will always make sure to take note of because my dad was one of my first heroes and one of my favorite people ever. There’s a quote that says something like “Dad: a son’s first hero, a daughter’s first love” that definitely resonates with my family’s dynamic.

My brother and I have both always looked up to my dad and sought his approval for many things. I admire how he has been there for me and my brother through our lives and it has given me such high standards. I’m lucky I found someone to meet my standards in the way Micah fathers our son and it’s a direct result of the amazing man he gets to call “dad” as well.

I have a few words for the dads that mean the most to me in my life.

Micah

Thank you so much for giving me the greatest gift of my life: our son. I’ve seen you go through so many things these last couple years, so many phases that continuously shape you, but the one thing that stays the same is your love for me and Paxon. You constantly work so hard to help me build this great life we have together and all I can say is “thank you” and hope I can repay everything you’ve done for us and will do for us. No one expected you to take it all on as well as you did, but, as abrupt our beginnings were, I’ve never felt security the way that I do in our little family unit.

The love you have for Pax is so pure and I’m so grateful we have that in common. Moments like when we both realize we’re just sitting there smiling at some weird little thing our son is doing are some of my favorites. Thank you for being such a great dad and exceeding all expectations all the time.

Dad

When I hear about people having bad relationships with their dads, it breaks my heart because I can’t imagine a life where I can’t rely on you. It’s taken me growing up to realize you’ve been the only consistent person for me and Joey through our whole lives and I just wanted to say thank you for that. I can now see the happiness you sometimes sacrificed just to let us do what we want because were too young to understand. I feel like the more I understand, the better our relationship gets and I’m so grateful to have what I have with you and Joey.

I’m just happy I have someone I can look up to and also call my dad. I strive to be as mellow as you, smart as you and strong as you. It may seem harsh, but anyone that can’t see your value loses their value to me instantly. I just want you to know that I’m here for you as much as you are here for me. I love you, dad! I can’t wait to see what else this life brings for you because of your hard work.

Micah is the man he is today because of you. The way you will cheer him on in everything he does and support him in every endeavor is the way every dad should be. It’s no doubt Micah’s confidence is a result of you cheering him on his whole life. I can’t wait to see what Pax decides to pursue so he can have you on his side and cheering for him!

Thank you so much for everything you’ve done for our family. Your kindness and generosity made it so easy for me to get comfortable with your family. I also wanted to thank you for giving me your son and raising him the way you did because he’s everything I could ask for in a partner and the father of our son.

I look forward to more memories this summer with the dads I mentioned. I hope you all get a nice day of relaxation and are able to do whatever you want. I love you all.
